So Yesterday I went to turn on my Acer Laptop with Windows 8 and it loaded it went directly to a purple backround that said
"Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC" & it said below that
"Log file: C:/windows/system32/logfiles/srt/srttrail.txt"
So I went on Google from my phone & typed that in and it seems everyone had that same message had the same problems as me. I read a number of forums & posts that all went through the motions of fixing this problem looking for a solution. Refreshing the PC, Safe mode, restore previous point, Restore and finally a complete restore were some of the options and EVERY SINGLE PERSON that tried those was unsuccessful and a lot of people said they had to buy a brand new computer because it was a Hard drive Failure. I found one other post where a guy said to type in a few commands one after another
"chkdsk r/ C"
"chkdsk r/ d"
"chkdsk r/ e"
& "chkdsk r/ f"
At least it was something along the lines of that, the guy he was suggesting it to was unsuccessful but I tried it anyway before doing a complete factory reset & I don't know what it did but I got my computer back on and logged in thank god! It took me all night to fix it and I'm terrified to shut it back off because I don't know what is wrong with it or if the problem is fixed. I don't know very much about computers but from what I gather it seems like the hard drive is failing? Is that true? My laptop is only a year old and only used for school and the odd browsing. I also have a few movies. I checked my drive and there is plenty of space left. Did an Mal-Ware Bytes scan, super anti spyware, disk clean up, Ccleaner and am running Avast. Of course not all at the same time but none the less everything came up fine!!
If somebody could help me figure out what the problem is and how to fix it that would be so great! I don't have much money to take it in and no warranty.
Any idea?? Thanks
