Those motherboards run different CPU's so you can't really merge them

The H81 is based on LGA 1150 which is the latest Intel one

The 945P is based on LGA 775 and maxes out on Core 2 Quads

Depending on the CPU you have with each mb nad how much ram is the key

For basic office work, an Core 2 Duo/Core 2 Quad or Haswell Pentium/i3 would do just fine

Stickmansam, thanks for the response. I'm new to this and appreciate your help. The new system I was given ( (it has the H81M-E motherboard and an Intel Core i5-4440 CPU @ 3.10 gb with 8 Gb RAM) does not appear to have the ability to connect accessories like a card reader. I thought I could just move the reader to the new board but I can't see the same connection from my old system (Gigabyte GA-945P-DS3 motherboard with Intel(R) Core (TM)2 CPU 660@2.40GHz with 2GB RAM. CanI do this?

Yeah the new one is much better, a new card reader from Newegg shouldn't be over $15 after shipping

Generally the card readers should plug into a USB header, can you post some pics?

Stickmansam, Found the USB headers but both are occupied as there are 4 USB connected to 2 USB headers. I may have to take out two of them to fit the Card reader. Can you split a USB header?

I'm not exactly sure about splitting them, if you can do without one set of USB ports, you can just unplug them
