I have a new Dell XPS 8700 with Win 8. When I have drives plugged into USB ports and I restart, the computer just sits there until I physically remove every USB cable except mouse and keyboard, at which time it loads the OS. How to change it from looking to the USB ports to load the OS?

I wish it were so simple. Inside the BIOS BOOT page it now looks like this:

So what to do, vis a vis your suggested fix?
When I select [USB Storage Device] and hit Enter, I get these options in this order:
USB Floppy Device
UEFI: Windows Boot Manager
[USB Storage Device
Internal ODD Devices
Onboard NIC Device
Not much help. Which to try? Am afraid of taking the wrong option, losing my data, and gaining a not very heavy boat anchor.

The general problem is odd, though. Usually what should happen is that the BIOS tries to boot from each device in order. If it does not find boot info, move to the next device.
