I have an i5 4670K not OC'ed yet with a Corsair H55 cooler and under load it is reaching easily 80-85ºC! IDLE 35-40.

How come? Is there a problem with the Cooler? Also what should be the maximum average under load and at stock clock?

Says the CPU's using ~110W. Something is probably wrong with your chip, though I'm not sure how accurate those measurements are.

You've got the thermal paste on there, fan on the radiator, and the pump is buzzing?

whats the idle vid on your cpu?
there are some known hashell cpus that have bad thermel paste aplied between the core and the his, maybe you were unlucky, check first if you applied the paste correctly.

Yes to all questions.

Idle Vid = floating 1.149~1.183V

So I think I'll take it to the store to check the chip.

Turns out the cooler was installed wrong.

The radiator's fan direction was inverted.

What temps are you getting now? The reversed fan shouldn't make a massive difference, though it can be quite bad.
