Hello. I'm in need of a good CPU cooler for my 4670k. Currently, it is being cooled by an old Asus heatsink+fan combo that my computer guy found laying around the store. We planned on using my Liquid cooler from my Alienware Aurora (which is just a Corsair liquid cooler with an Alienware logo on it) but did not have the right mounting mechanisms. But I don't think that cooler would have been able to handle the 4670k with an OC. It only had 1 radiator and it was like five years old.

Anyway... I've narrowed down my options to two different coolers.

1. Noctua NH-D14
2. Corsair H100i

I'm looking to keep the CPU as cool as possible with the overclock and less noise wouldn't hurt either.

I've been told that they will perform about the same in terms of cooling but the h100i will be a lot louder.

I don't mind the look of the Noctua, in fact I think it looks pretty neat. But I also like the look of the H100i and I think it would fit perfectly in my case.

Here are my specs...

Case- Corsair Carbide 500r
Mobo- MSI Gaming G45
CPU- i5 4670k
GPU- MSI gaming 780 ti
RAM- 8 gig Gskill Ripjaw 1600xmp.

Which of these two coolers would you get if you had my setup?

I'd go the H100i, look on Newegg, they have a video there for your case and the radiator drops right in the top fan locations.

Hey thanks for the reply. Yep I've seen the video and it would fit nicely in this case and I like how it looks but I think I'm going to go with a Noctua Air cooler. From everything I've read and heard, I gathered that the h100i is very loud under load where as the Noctua Air cooler is not. There are other reasons too for why I'm going with the air cooler.

The other thing is this, while I really like how the h100i looks, I wouldn't be able to see it in my case anyway. This case has a side mesh window with a big fan on it so can't see inside too well. I was just thinking about it and I figured if I was more interested in looks, I would have gotten a case with a window, my 780 ti would be reference one because I really like the look of that cooler and I would get the h100i. All that together would look really nice but it would not perform as well. The case has the fan so it keeps the GPU cooler. The card I got is the MSI Gaming 780 ti so it performs better than a stock 780 ti and has better cooling. And now with the cooler, the air cooler will be quieter than the h100i.

FYI, the h100i is actually pretty dang quiet once you replace the stock fans. I recommend it, it runs my 4770k beautifully (no OC yet though).
