Which is better? One is an established brand with superior build/cooling and high quality components (with great looks) while the other has a much higher factory OC and 5 years extended warranty.

More about : zotac gtx 780 amp asus gtx 780 dc2oc

I'm assuming you mean the ASUS DC2 OC and you should definitely go with the ASUS GTX 780 DC2OC http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DWV3NM6 which is a much more reliable card.

The Zotac AMP comes with some great clocks stock but the component quality isn't nearly as high as the ASUS. The ASUS comes with a custom PCB, VRM cooling, and the best cooler on the market which will allow you to overclock it much better than the Zotac and it will last a lot longer.

Thanks Wonkey, if both are factory OCed at around the same speed I would pick the Asus in a heart beat. The problem is I'm reluctant to do manual OC for fear of damaging it or voiding the warranty.

Some of this should also depend on the specific, physical space/slotting on your board. If slotting is tight and gaps between this and other cards is slim, a triplefan will provide better cooling because it can still push more hot air away from the card without being blocked by another card. (ie. an adjacent sound card or nic that is filling a half pci slot.) Depending on board layout and specific hardware attached, a tri-fan may have an advantage over a double fan- simply because it can still push alot more air away from the card without being blocked and recirculated around the GPU. Food for thought.

Thanks Journeyman. I'm using an Asus Maximus VI Hero mobo and there's an empty slot in between the 2 PCI-E ones used for the 2 cards in SLI. I intend to get 2 for SLI.

To be honest, you won't need to OC if you're going to SLI but if you do, you can just search other OC settings that people have used. I would keep your cards to an OC that won't allow them to go over 75C. Just monitor the temps and you shouldn't have any problems.

There was a time I was afraid to OC for fear of damaging the card but it's relatively impossible. The card will crash the computer before you can do serious damage and monitoring the temperatures so they don't exceed 75C under full load will also ensure that you won't damage the card. I say 75C because you could literally run 24/7 at that temperature and not have problems.

Thanks Wonkey! You're right, they don't need OC when I'm running 2 of them and I remember learning manual OC on my CPU from other forumme's recommended settings in the past. I'll go for the Asus DC2OC, thanks for helping me make the right decision!
