I have a Gateway EC 1140u. At least hat is what it says on the bottom. And before you laugh, it was an amazing netbook for its time, which was pre tablet and now I kick myself. Anyway, I've only used it for school and it is basically like new when whipped. I am trying to google it but NOTHING is coming up except for EC1440u. The dxdiag says its an EC14 series. So I'm quite confused. I basically want to get rid of it. So what can I hope to get for it on ebay? Craigslist? And what is the best case scenario selling it to a friend/random who knows nothing about computers? Its not bad. Windows 7 premium and other niceness, but its not a touch screen ya know? Anyway, thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

I believe those were around $400 new. With today's Google Chrome Books coming out at $199 and $249 brand new and running much stronger than this, I think you'd be better off donating it to Goodwill and telling them how much of a write off you'd like for your taxes. Otherwise I'd expect something way lower in price than what you'd be happy to get. Sorry. I don't even see it listed anywhere. Maybe try listing it on Craigslist for $150 but I'd be surprised if you got that much. I'm guessing more like $75-$100 :( . I don't mean to be insulting, just trying to be honest and accurate but hey, I could be completely wrong. Best of luck to you! :)

Thanks for the quick replies!

@Ravi Gagan: Thanks lol. But its running flawlessly without a single scratch or scuff. I've never even broken a cell phone or scratched a ps1/ps2 disk lol. I'm quite OCD about it. I just want to get the max price without totally ripping a friend off.

@jnewegger: That is exactly correct lol. 400 new wasted bucks lol. Thanks tablets. As to the tax write off, I don't itemize so I don't think the write off would work with a simple return, right? Thanks for the suggestion though!

I found two on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/gateway-ec1440u-11-6-Hd-Led-Lcd-/251450181118?pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item3a8b9945fe
and

Sellers asking for 100 and 130 respectively.

So you think maybe 100 for ebay and 130 for frienemy?

Again, thank you!

If you want a quick sell, list it for $10 less than the competition on eBay, so $90 would be your best bet or try the auction route. Actually auction it with $90 buy now option. If you want to see how much more you can get then list it for like $120 which is still $10 less than the competition. Good job finding those btw! Good luck!
