A Few GPU Questions...

Hi, this is the first time I'm on here.
First off, I just built my first pc but a bunch of artifacts keep popping up on the screen. Also, it keeps freezing and rebooting. Now, the GPU was the only used part (my friend gave it to me, he got it from his friend) and it is the radeon xfx 6570. Is that GPU just dead? I'm assuming it is.
Also, would you recommend I get the 7770 asus GHz edition for $90 at this link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121663 the r7 250 Sapphire 2GB for $70 at this link: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8573341&tab=7&SRCCODE=WEBLET03ORDER&cm_mmc=Email-_-WebletMain-_-WEBLET03ORDER-_-Deals&utm_source=EML&utm_medium=main&utm_campaign=WEBLET03ORDER&cm_lm=broadstreetbulliesfan@gmail.com ? Thanks!

Install HWMonitor and monitor how hot the GPU gets. It's probably the GPU shutting the PC down due to overheating.

Radeon HD 7770 is better
Cons:
Radeon R7 250 has slightly better memory bandwith (I think) but minor difference

Though it is not necessary that new components can't be faulty, apparent reason could be GPU. However, we need to be sure about it. Follow the advice by Priva and report back the temps reading from this software.

So far as R7 250 goes I would rather recommend going for 7000 series of Radeon.

I actually cannot even launch google chrome before it shuts down. When it was first booted today, the driver display errors were few and far between. Then it kept getting more frequent. Now I can't even be on the desktop for a minute without it restarting.

Remove the GPU from your computer and use onboard video through your MB if that is an option. If it doesn't restart your computer anymore then it's probably the GPU. Make sure you unplug everything and let the card cool first

I didn't get anything to show up, but I don't think my Mobo has integrated video. It is an MSI a55 e33 Matx

I looked and the 760k does not have video like an apu... What do you believe it could be? Also, if this means anything, my friend didn't give me a driver disc for the 6570
