Hi, I have couple of months old alienware x51 (win 8.1 64-bit, 8 gb dual channel 1600 MHz ram, i7-3770, nvidia gtx 660 1.5 gb). I am into photography field and do lot of editing works. When I try to render a full HD slideshow video in proshow producer, my system usage never touches its full potential (most of the time during the process, ram status shows 33% and cpu goes to 25% to 33%). Need help regarding it on how can I make it use its full potential at least, to speed up my rendering process and get the worth of whatever money I spent on this system.

Santusti, there is not much you can do. Most software are optimized to run on any particular hardware platform and how well they utilize an available resource largely depends on how well they have been coded to do so.

Since most people multi task on their systems, software makers would not want the blame of hogging up all available resources and rendering a system unusable for a while, therefore if all your renders can employ only as much resources as you are syaing then you can't really boost your system beyond that.

You can however disable power saving features to make your cpu run at higher speeds (or actually stop it from invoking speedstep/cool&quiet ).

Since you are rendering, the most important rtesource that should be working to it's full potential should be your gpu and ideally you should have gone for a workstation gpu rather than a gaming one as the previous category is more focused toward the kind of work you are doing.

I am sure if you check your gpu utilization, it would be working near to it's potential if the software is optimized to use it.
