After i installed my (NEW GPU)- Gigabyte geforce gtx 660 ,and (NEW PSU)- Coolmax 700W ZX Series onto my motherboard i tried to turn it on and it gets stuck on the acer screen with a press F12 or del option and it wont go any further so i tried to take out the gpu and it boots up perfectly fine without it.

I BOUGHT THE PSU AND GPU FOR I COULD PLAY SOME OF THE GAMES I HAVE ON MY DESKTOP WITH BETTER GRAPHICS BUT HAVENT HAD ANY LUCK FINDING THE ANSWER TO MY PROBLEM

Dear Pablo64Serrano,

Make sure you have plugged the GTX 660 directly to the monitor. Then when you boot up find your BIOS Key usually its F2 or F8. Just mash the Function keys till you find it. Then it should let you choose the PCI-e as the primary GPU and not the on-board video. Then just save them settings and reboot your system.

Hope this helps kind regards,
-James Tech.

Hmmm, Seems like the card must be dodgy. Try and exchange it for a new one if possible. But did you try and access the BIOS settings from the on-board IGPU. Make sure you connect the GPU before starting. See if the PCI-e slot picks up the GPU. Then reboot your PC and connect the video wire again. Sounds stupid, But it's all I can think of this early in the morning...

Best of luck,
-James

Hi pablo.

It sounds to me like a problem with static electricity in the components of the card. It can be transferred from the ground where you are standing when pluging in your card.
Make sure that you are not standing on a carpet or floor made from artificial plastic materials when mounting the card.

To get rid of eventual static electricity from your main board and graphics card you can try holding card in one hand while touching the connectors and touching a radiator/heater with your other hand for 5 seconds or so.
This should remove eventually static electricity from the card.

A good idea is also to buy an anti-static electricity wrist band when plugging in computer parts like this one for example: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bb/Antistatic_wrist_strap.jpg
You can get it for less than 5 bucks from your local computer store and it is worth every penny.
