Is it possible to skip DDR4 and PCI-e 4.0 generation ?

With DDR 4 and PCI-e 4.0 around the corner, is it possible to skip the next generation using the most powerful components of this generation i.e. best I7, 8-16 gb ddr3 ram and the most powerful PCI-e 3.0 card you can get ?

Although I am not getting anything new now, I was hoping by the end of this year to do so and with this new generation so close I wanted to know if a very powerful PC made in this generation can handle the next generation until the generation after that (DDR 5 and possibly PCI-e 5.0 ...if it reaches that far)

What are your thoughts on this matter ? Thank you.

Please pardon my rudeness for asking ...but what does that mean ? The fill part, I don't recall reading anything about "filling a lane".
Where does a GTX 780 TI (example card) stand in all of this ?

The different versions of PCI lanes have larger bandwidths as the generations increase.
The simplest way to put it is as cars on a road. The larger bandwidth, the wider the road, the more cars that can fit (filling the bandwidth)
The 780Ti comes close to filling 3.0 but not entirely.

Also not a bad question :D

I remember reading that PCI-e 3.0 has 8 GT/s and 4.0 will have double, 16 GT/s
This means that (in theory) the GTX 880 (example card) will fill the lane to the max and the next generation cards will start out low (at probably 8 GT/s) and as time goes on they will reach the full 16 GT/s
16 GT/s is a lot ...
Anyway ...if what I said is true then I am happy with the information I acquired and the thread can be closed if no further useful information can be added. Thank you for the replies.
