Looking for great and affordable headphones for music/games

Hello everyone. I'm looking for headphones that sound great for listening to music and being immersed into video games. I hear corsair, razer, sennhesier, logitech and audio technica are great and have read a lot but I'm still not sold on what to get.

What I'm looking for:
- Price range at a max of $150 us dollars.
- Headphones WITHOUT a mic. I can buy a mic separately.
- Sound cancelling ( can not hear anything else but what I am listening to) is a MUST.
- 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound
- Great bass
- I prefer wired over usb.
- Would like for it to work with my Asus Maximus VI Hero motherboard. It uses Supreme FX and has 8 channels. I will NOT be buying a sound card.

I will be using this for listening to music/video game music, watching netflix, playing emulators like Super Nintendo, playstation and N64 and being immersed in games like Skyrim. FPS are not as important as the others because I do not play them as often.

Thank you for your help.

  2. The Corsair 1500 get really good reviews. And the padding on it is awesome :)

Cheapest place to get it: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/corsair-vengeance-1500-v2-over-the-ear-gaming-headset-gunmetal-black/1567449.p?id=1219055523779&skuId=1567449&cmp=RMX

Its worth every cent, I promise.
  3. I should mention that I'm looking for wired headphones and not usb. I heard that usb will not utilize my onboard sound like a plug would. Please correct me if I am wrong.

No your right, lol. It might be a bit hard to find a 7.1 headphone without a USB, as that 7.1 is being made in that USB with the help of the program the headphones come with.

But I wouldn't know, this is not my field.
  5. Does 5.1 have usb or is that only for 7.1? I've seen headphones that use both the 3.5mm jack and a usb like the Razer Tiamat. What is the purpose of that?

I also have read that some people suggest getting Stereo headphones and using some program like Doby Digital to produce the simulated surround sound but is that really any better?

    1. Really it all comes down to your on board sound card, if its good, get a stereo, if not just get a USB. But I really do not recommend Razer at all.

    2. Yeah you can do that. It will give the same outcome.

I really like the Monster DNA.
  12. Beyer Dynamic is over budget for you
and Mad DNA is nothing in comparison to that I suggested you above that is Mad Catz AX 720 7.1 Surround Sound Gaming Headset.

    Its got all you want:
    noise reduction
    its wired and no usb
    7.1 surround sound
detachable mic (if mic is bothering you)
it perfectly fits in your budget

The Mad Catz is fine but he has came down to the conclusion of 2 headphones. The Monster DNA looks more appealing, the Beyer Dynamics are plain but have better sound quality. Both have good audio, but Beyer Dynamics just has better audio while(in my opinion) the Monster DNA look cooler.
