Do you have another card you can swap and try? Same goes for your RAM.

The first things I'd try is to use a different card, see if it does it. If it still does swap all your ram and try again. If it still does it there's a chance it's the SDD or HDD that windows is installed on.

What have you tried so far?

Nothing much, first month I built it, it was smooth as shit, now it's being a pain in the ass, following things I've tried, usually when I get in assasins creed 4, I'm able to load my save, then play for literally 2 seconds, until it freezes, then I get black screen, and have to CTRL+ALT+DELETE to get to task manager and end its process, usually says "not responding", I've noticed when I set my graphics settings to everything on LOW as it gets I usually last much longer before I get the crashes, usually about 60seconds, which is much longer than 2 seconds.
I tried monitoring tempreature, I tried to let my computer cool off and then turn it on and as soon as I get in, while my GPU is around 30.C (at the start) I tried then compare to when its been on a while and it's hot, still no result, I can perform basic tasks such as browsing, watching videos, and the only game I'm managing to play is league of legends yet still with some freezes, but even then it recovers from the freeze and doesn't crash unlike battlefield 4 and assassins creed.
I'm assuming is the high end games that it's having problems with, I also opened my case on both sides to allow my airflow yet no difference, tried to update my drivers too.

Borrow a buddy's video card, regardless of make and see what happens with it.

You can also try a different pcie slot, although depending on your board it might slow down the card a bit.

Is the problem you're facing anything like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4-MHELShUM This vid is about the 7870 but i've seen posts/stories saying the same happens to the 77xx and 79xx series. Maybe they havent fixed the issues on the r7 and r9 cards. Maybe it's just a bad card. If you try other remedies and nothing checks out you may need to rma the card.

I just sent back a 7870 for the second time so they are giving me a 660 ti in exchange. you may need to so something similar. In my case it would crash like the video i linked to when playing heavy games like FFXIV or BL2, but it was fine playing small games like Audio Surf or Shank.

I'm running an R9 290X, It's sort of similar thing, but mine doesn't make that sound + I can usually get back into windows without having to restart the whole system usually by ctrl+alt+delete to get into task manager, it's so bad that not even alt+tab takes the black screen off, I have to use the old technique.
Sometimes I get lucky and I'm able to play assassins creed, usually 1 in 20 chances.
the game usually starts off freezing for the first 3 seconds, then the screen turns black.

Sad to say but to get to the bottom of your issue is probably gonna take alot of trial and error. as others have said you might want to use the same card in a different pcie slot and try and see if that works. if it doesnt then you're gonna have to move on to trying a totally different card and see if that works. You might need to uninstall and re install the card drivers

If that doesn't work then you're probably going to have to try each stick of ram one at at time to see if there are any issues there. If none show up you might have to test your psu to see if thats working. If it is you might have to see if you just got a bad windows install or something. It could be a LOT of things. But just by what you're saying i'm gonna say bad driver install or faulty gpu

I had a 6970 when they were brand new and the same crap happened with me, with a few other crashes. It was my 3rd ATI card in 6 years that was bad for one reason or another. Since then I've had a gtx 580 and a gtx 780ti and have never had an issue.

I know lots of folks who swear by the AMD cards though but, it's just not been my experience.

I actually still like them. Before I had the 7870 I had a 5770 and have zero issues with that. Before that I had an x850 xt and had zero issues with that either. And I had the 7870 like a year and some change before it died. That's not exactly long but it wasnt a constant crash fest either.

I bought a 770 because I just figured there was a fab issue with the hd 7xxx series. Nothing that would stop me from buying amd in the future. The reason I asked for a 660 (the rma says 660 ti) over another 7870 is because I like physx so might see if I can trade it somewhere for a pair of 650s (doubtful) so I can use one as a physx card and one for my cousin who is a light gamer.

Update, I was able to play battlefield 4 single player no problem, but the only problem is my GPU got to 94.C, I think normal temp should be 90-93 while active, It's just the multiplayer I'm facing issues with, + assassins creed I've been using the same crack without update for a month or so, I'm guessing the game has issues? because I've managed to play both games on ultra graphics setting, still doing some testing.

I think even the 90-93 you stated is too high. They say the card is designed to withstand around 94c, but I don't think it should be hitting that on a regular basis, but I dont have an r9 card so I don't know. Man if they are running that hot always i'm avoiding those like the plague.

If your card has a reference cooler on it, then it's going to get very hot all the time. Before you look into getting an aftermarket cooler for it though, you really NEED to try a different graphics card in your system and see what happens.

Short of formatting and re-installing, you've already done the relevant software fixes. Trying a different card is the quickest and easiest way to start your path, and my gut tells me it's the card anyways.

Might not be, but it seems likely.
