Hey!

I have Sapphire HD7870 GHz edition 2GB GDD5 graphics card and I'm using 14.1 beta drivers.

I have decided to get some more juice out of my graphics card with overclocking. I have never overclocked before so it's new experience for me. I read some articles and watched videos to get basics down. I used MSI afterburner as overclocking application and MSI kombustor to test my clocks.

I started to clock by 25MHz. I set core clock to 1025, hit apply, screen flashes all black and comes back normal. Seems like settings are in place. I fire up kombustor to check if there are any FPS change. To my surprise after burner still shows active core clock is 1GHz even tho slider shows 1025MHz. I checked AMD Overdrive and it also shows 1GHz active core clock. :(

I've also tried to overclock memory with no luck. Only thing that seems to work is giving more power to the card which didn't do anything good for FPS so far.

Do I do something wrong, missing something or am I just unlucky with this card? :(
It seems like locked BIOS to me.

Solution
I solved my own case!
The beta drives were the problem. After I uninstalled beta drivers and installed officially released drivers I am able to overclock my graphics card. Good luck to me.

Lesson learned. :)
