Hello,
So I use my TV as a display for my PC. I had installed drivers for the Maximus VI Hero from the included disc, and just recently have updated them with the ones on the support website. Only now, it doesnt seem to recognize an HDMI audio output. Ive attached a screenshot of my playback window.

You are not alone with this HDMI problem. I have exactly the same problem with a Gigabyte board. The motherboards ability to autodetect the HDMI cable is not working and defaults "usually" to one of the Realtek Digital outputs. Mine defaults to the (Optical) one. You can change it to the other one but you still don't have HDMI audio. After spending many days communication with the Engineers at Gigabyte this is finally what I discovered. It is a problem with the Intel HD drivers and they know it. Here is a link to their...

I've tried different cords and different ports, and yes it did work before I updated the drivers. Now I can't seem to revert back to when I had it working. It's telling me apparently that SPDIF is connected, but the only connection I have is hdmi.

If you have a sound card, try connecting to the TV using an analog as a temp hotfix, though as far as the drivers go, it may be that your motherboard's sound is outdated or something. Not completely sure.

Update... the Digital Audio out port on the back of the computer is glowing red, could this indicate that it's trying to send audio out that port instead of the HDMI? I would really appreciate any help, thank you.

So I am in limbo with a brand new HTPC that won't output HDMI to any of my 3 Flat Panel TV's. Oh and by the way the optical output seems to always glow red whether it is doing anything or not.

Hi I found the solution!
The problem is in the INTEL DRIVERS! you must install the first option of the list on INTEL IRIS...
I was with THE EXACT SAME problem, now its all good =)
hope that it helped!
~~~~~~ I could reach this driver/software download page through INTEL ARK.. there's a link on the right column under QUICK LINKS called Software Downloads. Just click and you'll be redirected to the page that I said above =)
*Sorry for my bad english, because I'm from Brazil =)
