It means there is no boot code on the first hard disk in the PC. If you only have 1 hard disk then this is where the boot code needs to be, if you have more than 1 then the BIOS will see one of them as the boot disk, maybe it is seeing the wrong disk as the boot disk?
Your hard disk may of course be faulty and need some maintenance. I would recommend something called SpinRite, available at https://www.grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm which costs $89, but I have heard great things about it in recovering data from damaged hard disks, i.e. where the data got a bit corrupted or the surface was damaged.
You might also need a new boot loader, such as GRUB, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_GRUB
-- this would automatically detect your installed operating systems and install into the boot sector of the first hard drive with a menu if you have several OSes so you can choose which one to boot.
I am not sure what the dts long:warning means that you mention.
The SMART reference is a monitoring tool that most modern hard disks have, but if it is not available then it probably means that your hard disk is old and does not have it.
If the system and the hard disk are quite old it could just be that it will not work again. It is always a good idea to have backups of your data so that when disks go bad you can get the data back, maybe onto a new hard disk. It's a real pain to do backups and I do not always get round to backing up the OS, but I do back up my most important data regularly.
Sorry I cannot help fully yet, but I hope this gives you some ideas of what to do next.
It might help others to help you more if you specify how old the hard disk is, how old the PC is, what OS you use, and what you have done so far in your hard disk checking.
