First, you save any critical data currently existing on the HDD. Save it elsewhere. Docs, pics, usernames/passwords

Disconnect the HDD
Connect the SSD
Install the new OS
With a new OS install, all your applications will need to be reinstalled.

Can I keep Windows 7 on my HDD? Like can I unplug the HDD and plug in the SSD and boot from the SSD and install Windows then plug in the HDD and keep the SSD as the boot drive?

There is no need to keep the Windows install on both drives. One or the other.

Follow the above directions and links.
