Looking at buying a new gaming laptop, and found this one for $800'ish. Want to know if the model is still good enough to play newer games. If not, i'd appreciate it to be directed to somewhere with reasonable prices, preferably cheaper, that can play more modern games. Here are the specs, in a review. Just scroll down a little to see them. http://www.cnet.com/laptops/asus-g51j-3d/4505-3121_7-33...

Too expensive for that old of a device. I got my last generation MSI GT70 for $800 and it's already showing its age - I can't imagine how inadequate a 5 year old gaming laptop would be.

What games in particular are you trying to play? And is your budget $800?

I'd like to keep it $800 max, though i'd rather it be less, since budgets a bit tight. The most strenuous thing i'd play on it would be Bioshock Infinite. I'd also be playing Super Street Fighter IV, Warframe, Outlast, etc. I'm not planning on running the newest of the newest games, thats why I thought that Asus would be a fine choice, since its graphics card and quad core processor would be able to handle most games i'd play. Did you have something else in mind?

The Asus G51J-3D is the first laptop to incorporate Nvidia's 3D vision technology. If you absolutely love the idea of 3D gaming, this proof-of-concept system will work well for a pricey showpiece.

While the GTX 260m in the Asus G51J-3D was pretty powerful back when it was released, today it is not very powerful anymore. In terms of today's performance it is a between the nVidia GT 730m/735m and the GT 720m.

I recommend you look at the 14" and 15.6" Lenovo Y410p and Y510p starting at $719 and $799. Both comes with a GT 755m which is definitely more powerful than the old GTX 260m. You can get a quad core Intel CPU version of the Y410p for under $800. The Y510p comes standard with a quad core CPU.
