Is this a good pc for daily rountine work and for windows 8???

Since i m buying a new xbox 360 so i let my brain away from game but daily routine work is in the way!
spec i have now :
Cpu:p4 640
Ram:1gb
gpu:intel 945g(doesnt matter)
Harddisk:40GB
MoBo:dont know
OS:windows xp
New specs:
CPu: Intel pentium dual core e6500
Ram:2gb
Gpu:intel gmax4500mhd(does gpu matter in windows :O)
Harddisk:80gb
Mobo:Need help
OS:W7 or W8
P.S:Because of Xbox 360 i m on v.tight budget at 10000rs(pakistani)which is equal to USD 100$
so plz help i dont need pc for any gaming only for work like internet and videos or very light game.

Kick up the Ram to 4gb $30ish and look for a older GPU 8500 Geforce or better $20ish. Ditch Windows and install Ubuntu which is free, very supported and takes less resources to run. You wont have to deal with running a anti virus and anti malware bloat like you will on windows as the core isn't open like a pile of Swiss cheese.
