automatic overclock on motherboard

I have an asus m5a97 r2.0 motherboard with the fx 6300 amd cpu and i noticed today that randomly it had overclocked itself to 4.4 ghz i had set the system up with the factory settings and i am curoius as to how this may have occured

thing is i did not set up an overclock but at some point the bios switched to manual mode and turbo core had a field day from the looks of things

If it works well in the auto OC mode leave it alone and enjoy the faster speed. You can keep an eye on the temps by using 'RealTemp'.

im simply curious as to how the overclock happened and amazed that 4.4ghz was achieved on stock voltage
