Kind of weird.... A couple months back I moved all of my components from one case to another and swapped coolers. Everything went fine, but before I made the change my CPU frequency used to go down while idling and come back up to max turbo when needed. I went into the BIOS, and none of my settings seemed to change -- the only thing I changed from stock that I can remember is vCore to 1.245v, max turbo to 4.3, and memory frequency to 1600 mhz. I even loaded my profile I previously saved but it's still staying at 4.3 ghz constantly. It's still 100% prime 95 stable, but I liked having lower temperatures at idle. Can anyone help me figure out what the hell happened? Nothing I did should have had any effect on the BIOS. CPU is an i7-3820.

Solution
i had the same problem with my new build. my fps' were good when using fraps that was it and thats because the cpu throttled up again to compensate. not sure why windows changed my power settings but im glad to see you got it all fixed!
