Connect Corsair SP120 PWM fan to GPU header

Hi all, I am wondering if it would be possible to connect my Corsair SP120 4pin PWM fan (attached to my rad) to my 290 4pin fan header.

I am aware that Gelid do this adapter:

My question is would there be issues such as voltage incompatibility etc?

I would have to presume both fans are +12V DC PWM motors. If so, there should be no problem that way. However, I don't know what the current rating is for the card's fan controller, but if this is your fan: http://www.corsair.com/us/cpu-cooling-kits/air-series-fans/air-series-sp120-pwm-high-performance-edition-high-static-pressure-fan-twin-pack.html
... it is only 0.18 amp at 12V, less at lower voltage. That would seem within safe limits to me.

That is indeed my exact fan - the high performance edition which is 0.18A at 12V as you say. Out of interest, what kind of voltage/current can a reference gpu fan header handle?

That I can't answer. But I would assume it would be similar to the MB fan headers which are usually 1 amp @ +12V DC.
