I have seen some very cheap PSU's on amazon, not sure they are the ones I should be looking at though.

This 600w one is £26.99:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/CiT-600W-Silent-Power-Supply/dp/B0064AMYDQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1392589397&sr=8-2&keywords=600w+psu

Where this 600w is £53.88
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Builder-Series-Modular-Certified/dp/B00ALYOTTI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392589454&sr=8-1&keywords=600w+psu

I'm not exactly sure why there is a price difference of so much, what do I need?

Thanks

Hi - I agree with blackbird, you will need more than 600w for a sys with 2 r9 270x's.
Those units are also lacking 2 of the 4 pcie connectors you will need.

The reason for the large price difference of units with the same rated power is quality
and the lack thereof.

The quality of parts and mfg is all over the lot. It is a bad component to "cheap out" on.

For a system using two AMD Reference Design Radeon R9 270X graphics cards in 2-way CrossFire mode AMD specifies a minimum of an 700 Watt or greater system power supply. The power supply should also have a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 43 Amps or greater and have at least four 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

The Corsair CX600M meets the minimum electrical requirements but you would need to use a couple of PCI-E Y-splitter cables.

The CiT 600W doesn't even come close to having sufficient +12V rail capacity to meet the requirement.

Corsair, CiT is not very known
