hi guys wondering about cpu performance

i was planning on getting a i5 4670 but i really need to save about 100 dollars would it be a viable option to settle for a good i3 for 100 less? or would that be a bad idea and decrease my gaming performance too much?
i have a his ice r9 270x turbo

There are alot of bias people out there for instance people will fight between the 8350 and 4670 but if your on a budget the performance between these two are very similar if you want to save some money go with the 8350 .

If your looking to save money, the fx 6300 is a great idea. Out performs i3 in most multi-threaded games (eg crysis 3, bf4) and so on, and completely destroys the i3 in rendering tasks, especially when overclocked. Haswell i3's are a lot better for some reason than the ivy bridge models though. i3 will be better for excel/general single threaded apps and games like skyrim, but considering how trends are turning now, FX-6300 would be the best bet budget wise.

If you're looking to future proof though, i'd go with the i5/8320
