I've searched and searched and searched...

I have a ASUS M2R32-MVP motherboard, AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000 3.1GHz CPU, 8gb ram running on Windows 8. Power supply is CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V.

I wanted to upgrade my old video card ASUS EAH4850 TOP/HTDI/512M Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-Bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card.

I purchased MSI N660 TF 2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card.

I uninstalled the old card in device manager, turned off the computer and installed the new video card. On boot, I don't see the splash screen of the bios (latest upgrade) and then i see a cursor blinking and the screen goes blank. It definitely is loading windows because i can login and turn off the computer with the keyboard. I can also load BIOS. There is no on-board video.

I put back the old card and it works fine. So i decided to leave the original one in the blue PCI slot and put the new one in the black PCI slot. Windows detected it and i was able to install the drivers but once i take out the old one and put the new one in the blue PCI slot; the same thing happens.

I am completely lost...I am a bit of a noob but usually i can search and find the solution. I haven't been able to so that's why im posting here.

Thanks everyone for helping me.

Have you made sure all the correct power cables are connected?
That the monitor is plugged into the new GPU correctly?

Have you tried the GPU from the "black PCI slot" yet? Do you get visuals from there?

You might have to go into BIOS and select which device is the display adapter.

Finally, I'm not sure if this sort of thing actually helps, but resetting CMOS helps with a lot of hardware issues. No guarantees though.
