Hello all, long time lurker -- first time poster. I've got a situation where I'm grasping for thin thin threads at this point, but holding out for some hope...

I had been running a machine with a Biostar TF8200 A2+ motherboard, which had housed an NVIDIA RAID5 array that became ... well for lack of a better term, broken. It had been running fine until I had to replace the DVD drive in the machine. When I rebooted, it was in a degraded state perhaps I think due to the SATA connections for each drive possibly being moved from one port to another (would that even cause a problem?). Now it totally seems FUBAR which brings me to posting.

I was able to bring it up at one point and run a chkdsk which attempted to "fix" the situation, and I was able to see most, if not all of the data on the disk -- however it all seemed out of order and none of the files were in working condition. All the files showed up, but their contents were garbled and I was only getting the first 25% of an image file loading.

I guess to cut right to the chase, is any of my original data even salvageable at this point? I have seen posts about running either Ubuntu or Fedora to emulate FakeRAID and mount the array to try and save the data, but haven't had any luck in getting it to work properly -- probably cause I'm trying too hard...

I am open to any and all suggestions to try and save the data, but at this point I'm looking at it as a lost cause :( ... Hopefully someone can prove me wrong and steer me in the right direction -- even if I can get 50% of the data back I'd be happy. If anyone can possibly help or if you need more info on the situation, I will HAPPILY reply! Thanks for taking the time out to read this!
