Building my 1st rig - here is what I am thinking - let me know if you would do anything different.

Purpose is for gaming mostly - want it to run everything out now and for the next couple years...

Processor: i5 - 4670k haswell - never overclocked before but seemed reasonable price wise if I ever decided to try it..... Still considering not messing with overclocking and getting the i5 4670 - which I think would affect my mobo selection - please advise.....

Motherboard: Not sure - suggestions?

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 770 SC 2GB GDDR5 256 -Bit Dual BIOS Dual-Link DVI-I/DVI-D HDMI DP SLI Ready Graphics Cards with ACX Cooler 02G-P4-2776-KR

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8 GB ( 2 x 4 GB ) DDR3 1600 MHz

PSU: Corsair CX Series 600 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Bronze ATX12V/EPS12V 552 Power Supply CX600M

HDD: Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Single Unit Version Internal Solid State Drive MZ-7TE250BW

Monitor: ASUS VG248QE 24"

Case: Corsair Graphite Series 230T CC-9011042-WW Black on Black with RED LED fans ATX Mid Tower Side Panel Window

Any Upgrade/downgrade suggestions would be helpful.... Thanks!

CX 600 is ok, just there are much better psu's out there corsair makes good ones but there has been high demand for high efficiency units lately and they get expensive, this was one of the cheapest psu's I would recommend: XFX 550 56 USD

I like windows 7, but I believe windows 8 has slightly improved in efficiency over windows 7. Also get aftermarket cooler for the 4670k so it doesn't get too hot, and if you really want to save money drop ssd and get better gpu or just save money because they are livable without, but for gaming you need a good size hdd for storage (at least 500gb absolute minimum).

Will the cx series 600W be ok or is it mandatory to upgrade? and if I do would the 750 cx be ok? What do you suggest - is corsair not good? Trying to keep the whole build under 1300 with monitor included - also need a OS suggestion Windows 7 or windows 8....

Regarding the aftermarket cooler - do I need it if I don't overclock - which means I will be getting the i5 4670....
If I do need a aftermarket cooler for overclocking - would a cool master hyper 212 evo do the job?

Also looking for the mobo options for i5 4670 and i5 4670k

What upgrade would you recommend for the gpu at $360 max (I prefer nvidia)

I would use it to help you organize a list, and estimate prices from online merchants too as I have found it to be quite accurate and adept, while it may be confusing at first it greatly helps you find the best bang for your buck. I will try to get you an example of your desired build there in a second please hold on as my internet is sort of shaky and I need to do something else really quick.

There is an example of a pcpartpicker list I threw together to try and meet your criteria as best as I could. I changed parts around here and there to save some money.

A lot depends on your game preferences. I like AMD graphics like a R9 280 Asus Motherboards like the z97 or z87 Sabertooth TUFF series if you game the 5 year warranty is nice. A decent SSD for booting it doesn't need to be huge 120G For a gaming hard drive Western Digital 1 or 2 TB Black drive. I use the corsair ram but 1866Mhz. I think for the difference in price go i7 4770k unlocked it's 3.5ghz rated but will easily do 4.0ghz without breaking a sweat. Just make sure you put a decent sink on it. If you look around this can be done for $700. - $850.00
