My 280X sits at about 47C while idling or surfing the web. I have 7 fans in my PC and an H100i, and I can feel the cool air coming out of the case. The 280X reaches 70C when playing games. I have yet to test it in serious stress tests.

I would've thought the 280X would be cooler than this. Does this seem odd?

Not really. Those are all safe temps. Are the fans intake/exhaust correctly organized so as not to cancel air flow inside the case? The temps seem a bit higher than normal, tho. The 2 cards in my sig below are idling at 35C and 34C as I type this.

I realise they're safe, but I did feel like they were higher than normal. I'll be doing a modest OC on my 4670k, but I don't want the temps to get too high, even if they would still be safe.
The front and side panel fans are intake, the rear and top radiator fans are exhaust. Shouldn't be any issues there.

The GPU may have received a poor thermal paste application at the factory. I had a GTX 570 once that always ran hotter than the other one (SLI) I had. I took the heat sync off and saw that there was only a tiny dab of paste that had been covering just one half of the GPU's heat spreader. After cleaning it and applying MX-4, it ended up running cooler than the 1st card. So I did it too.
