Help! Does This Mean my GPU is Overheating?

I posted yesterday, but needed a second opinion. I just made my first build (woohoo!) and the only used part was the GPU from a friend (he got it from his friend.) It is a Radeon 6570. When I first booted up the computer to the desktop, every 2 minutes I got driver display issues. The intervals started getting shorter to the point where if I have the desktop up for a minute, it restarts. Now, I can go into the BIOS and move around that fine with no issues. My CPU is functional, it is a AMD Athlon II X4 760k. It does not have video as well in the CPU... does this mean my GPU is overheating? I already ordered the 7770 and I know that is 100x better, but I just need to know if there is any other problems. Thanks!

To me it just sounds like a faulty card, probably from being used. I got a brand new card in the mail one time, it did much of the same stuff yours is doing.

After much reinstalling of drivers & such, I finally sent it back & got it replaced, the new one I got in it's place worked 100% fine.

They were the same exact card as well. So sometimes it's just something as simple as the component being faulty.

hmm, yes. usually the friend of a friends GPU is pretty worn out by the time it gets to you lol. In BIOS the chipset drivers for video are used, basic drivers. when you boot windows the GPU is being used and this is where the problems start. its not necessarily overheaiting, it could simply be failing.

to really test this, try booting into safe mode with networking, and re installing the drivers for the Radeon 6570 GPU from there. boot normally and see if you crash. Could also be RAM or power supply issue here :/

power supply is very likely too actually, what is the model and wattage (should be on the sticker labeled on the unit itself)

Haha yes that was what I was thinking!
And the ram is working, I mean it shows up in the BIOS and it showed when I was able to get to computer properties. The PSU is a corsair 80+ bronze 430W. I don't believe it is at fault either, what do you think?

and the 7770 is widely universal with other parts, correct?
