Hey

More MHZ ram is used for some video editing ( large video files )/music production, where you need fast file transfer speed :)
If you are not working with large files the 1866MHz CL9 would be the best for normal PC usage and PC gaming

Well, i use my pc mostly for casual music production/ video editing / gaming and database development.

Also i use virtualbox ( like 3 of then at same time ).

Should i go for 1866MHz CL9 anyway?

In this case you want your system to be fast :) .
If you are doing video and autio editing as I mentioned go for 2400MHz, but make sure your motherboard supports so much frequency
