I have created a system image on my external HDD.I want to know how can I use that system image from boot if my windows crashes?s..Also how can I do the same with Acronis?Do I need a pen drive to do the with Acronis?I don't want to delete any data on my HDD

If you created a backup image using Windows "Backup & Restore", you need to go back into Backup & Restore and click "Create a system repair disc". When you boot from that CD you will be able to restore from the backup image.
Similarly, with Acronis True Image you also need to create a bootable CD from the within the Acronis application, as explained here: http://www.whatsabyte.com/P1/create_cd.htm
