I did not forget my password, but it won't accept it and I do not have a recovery disc because it didn't come with one.

Everything had been working fine but this morning when I got on, typed in my password I got a message that says "The user profile service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded." This is an acer that is approximately 6-7 years old. I tried to do the fix that someone mentioned, re: removing the mother board battery, but cannot get to the mother board. If someone has a way to fix this I would really appreciate it. I am using my husband's computer.

This could be the solution: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215

I'd suggest Method #2 in the guide above, however you will need access to administrator account in order to do any of those methods, hope you have that account enabled in your pc.

Thanks! I actually finally got on in safe mode and windows ran a check. After it did that--voila! It accepted my password. I did an immediate back up (well not so immediate, was 6 hours-- I have got to get rid of some of the pics in my computer and 4 discs). But so far, so good.
