gtx 780 noise problem

Solution

Well, the card should NOT be damaged by Coil Whine. Although, I did a little more research and I found that coil whine can be mistaken for a dodgy fan motor. Just check that the fan motor's are clean and there is no moisture inside of the fan motor. Overall, if it is indeed Coil Whine then there should not be any damage to the card. Especially as you said that it is running well.

Well, It seems that its the fans that are causing the problem. I would try and find another case for the 780. That may reduce the noise issue a little. If you are a little tight for money you can download a free program called, "SpeedFan", You can download it here.

That may allow you to slow down the fans a bit. So less noise will be caused. Also when your not gaming you can put the fans a little higher to compensate for the higher temperatures whilst gaming.

Best of luck,

Oh, I see. Well I don't really think there is an solution to the Coil Whine itself, apart from putting nail polish remover on the insides of the Fans, around capacitors and around the case of the card. There are some temporary things you can do you to drown out the noise of the Coil Whine. Here are some Ideas below:

1. Wear some a headset whilst gaming to drown out the noise. Listen to music or whatever when not gaming.
2. Just try your best to get over it(Eventually you will get adjusted to the noise and it won't bother you). <--- Cheapest option
3.Buy a new card(But I wouldn't seeing as it is a waste of money's).

Best of luck,
-James

P.S. Definitely give the nail polish remover a shot seeing as that has helped many people after doing a bit of research it seems like the most logical choice.

The sound is not a big problem because isn't too strong. But i want to know can coil whine damage the card? I can't return it because i live in Bulgaria and the card is bought from Germany.

Well apparently, coil whine is fine as long as the card is performing how it should. Is the card performing as it should or are there frequent lag spikes when gaming. Well overall, as long as the card is performing well and is staying cool its fine. Although your card may not last as long as it could. Although, overall its fine :)

Meh, I don't know then. I would just try and forget the issue. As long as it is not damaging your card its fine. Don't worry about it too much. If your card is becoming more unstable and your FPS begins to drop then I would begin to invest in a new card as there are no other things you can do with coil whine. It's a very awkward thing to deal with.

Best regards,
