My parents computer just recently died and I am trying to build them a fast, reliable build that will last for at least the next 3-4 years (hopefully).
Here is my current parts list:
Case: Rosewill Line-M
Motherboard: Asrock H77M
CPU: Intel i5-3470
Ram: Crucial Ballistic Sport 8GB
PSU: Rosewill Capstone 450W Modular
SSD: Samsung EVO 120GB
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Hard Drive: Seagate Barruacuda 1TB (I also have a 1TB left over from the old computer so maybe Raid 1)
Graphic Card: Something for very light gaming, maybe Asus HD7770 1GB

This is what I am thinking about currently, but this ends up at $750, and I would like to keep it under $700 if possible while still providing a very reliable machine. So suggestions are very welcome. My main question is: would it be a good idea to switch over to one of the new APU's from AMD which would cost less and help avoid a graphic's card. And if I did this would these APU's be reliable enough to last several years.

Thanks in advance,
Jacob

I wouldn't prefer a APU for gaming. The above mentioned components will be good for 5 years if not more. And I wouldn't RAID the drives, just use it normally without RAID config. SSD for OS and other HDD's for regular stuff, hassle free. Good luck.

I like this rig alot, my only problem is that the motherboard does not have a internal heard for usb 3, and that case doesn't have front port usb 3. Which are both things that it will need to have, but the rest I like.
