I work as an assistant in an office, and use my boss's older desktop as my computer. Had some major space issues with the Maxtor 80 GB HDD and needed to expand, so I purchased a refurbished Seagate 160GB IDE HDD and set it up as a slave (as cable select was not working for me). In startup, BIOS recognizes that there is a 160GB HDD hooked up, under Primary Slave; however XP will not (even when running a hardware scan in Device Manager). I did not receive any driver disc or any other item with the drive. Here are my current computer stats:

Dell 76477-OEM-0011903-00102
Intel(R)
Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.8GHz
2.79 GHz, 3.5GB RAM
Running Windows XP 2002 edition Service Pack 3
My boss bought this computer around 2000-2002, and has upgraded the Graphics card and RAM.

I have been researching and understand there may be compatibility issues with this Dell Motherboard and a larger HDD, but again, the BIOS recognizes it so I'm unsure that's the problem.

Any direction would be helpful, and I can provide more information if needed.
