Ok, I bought a GTX 550 ti and put it in my Asus P5b Deluxe. It worked but it had a slight problem. When you first turn the computer on it wouldn't post. Then after about 15 -20 sec it would reboot and then it would post correctly. It acted like it wasn't finding the video card. So i got tired of that after a few months and put in an old card that worked perfect. I did some research and figured the pcie x 2.0 card wasn't compatible with the 1.0 slot.
So now i upgraded my motherboard to ASUS P8z77 v LK and thought i would finally get to use the 550 ti. Nope. The motherboard does boot the card. I looked in bios and the board sees that there is something there but will not boot it. It defaults to the on board video. I tried to tell it to boot pcie x video first but it always boots the onboard and reverts the setting in bios back to auto.
It has a core i5 2400
650 w psu
8 gb kingston ram
Any help would be appreciated.
Also i put the old asus board and 550 ti in another case for my son and it does the same thing it did before but the card works.
