Hi,

I would like to run 3 GPUs of a mobo while allowing them to breathe a bit (dual gaming/mining machine). I am looking for a mobo with 3 PCIe x16 lanes on slot 1, 4 and 7. I do not plan to run the GPUs with SLI enabled however the mobo should support 3-way sli or 4-way sli so that I will not risk frying it by running my 3 GPUs. Cost should be around 300$ or less.

I have found the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD7 that would do the job. Any other mobo?

Thanks a lot!

Hi and welcome to Tom's forum.

ASUS CROSSHAIR could be a good option too, but I am not sure about the price. You could also have more options if you change to Intel side.

PD: For minning I recomend you AMD on GPUs, nVidia isn't that good as R9 280-290 series.

Yeah, I will use AMD GPUs, I should indeed have written Crossfire instead of SLI :)  Mobo can be either for AMD or Intel CPU. Unfortunatly, the ASUS Crosshair does not have the layout I want as it does not have a PCIe 16x in slot #4.

Thanks! I finnaly found some other board excluding the GA-990FXA-UD7:

ASRock Fatal1ty X79 Champion
ASRock Z68 Extreme7 Gen3
MSI Big Bang Xpower II
ASUS Rampage IV Extreme
EVGA x79 Dark

There are also other board but more expensive (500$ +). I will probably go with the GA-990FXA-UD7.

Thanks!

Well, compared with the Intel options I think that you go with a very good option for the price.
