I'm planning to buy a Haswell CPU together with a H81 motherboard. I'll use it basically to play games (no overclocking, that's why I chose the H81). Which of the three processors pointed above should I get?

More about : intel 4570 4670 4670k gaming

i5 4670, no point of getting the k because you can't overclock with your motherboard.

I would spend the extra and get a Xeon 1230 v3 to give you a bit of extra life out of your system as new games going forward will have be more like Crysis 3 and BF4 in terms of multithreaded support.

But what's the difference between the 4670 and 4570? Which one should I get?

My friend has a Xeon, and its only advantage in gaming is the larger of threads, but if it was only by that I would be buying an AMD FX-8350.

The only two Intel cpus I would get on a H81 socket is either the i5-4570 or Xeon e3-1230v3. They are the best 2 values.

The 4670 is about $15 more and is 200mhz faster than the 4570. $15 isn't that bad. It's usually closer to $25 more. Prices fluctuate all the time.

The Xeon e3-1230v3 is better in every way than the FX8350. It's faster with one thread, it's faster with four threads, and it's faster with eight threads.

The FX8350's only advantage is price, but then you get what you pay for.
