GTX 760m driver update "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware"

Sorry if I sound nooby when I ask this, for I do not know quite too much about these things, and I just entered this community. I have tried to update my drivers for my Asus MH-71's GTX 760m graphics card. The thing is... when I do, I get "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware". Anyone have a clue what I need to do?

  1. Actually,it's because the driver isn't made for your card. Which is the driver you downloaded? Are you sure it's for the 700m series GPUs? Make sure you're downloading the correct driver for your card. It should be this way...
    Geforce 700M -----> GTX 760M
Make sure it's not the 700 series driver you've got. It is not the 700 that you need,it is the 700M driver.
  2. It is for 700M series GPUs. Specifically, the 332.21 Geforce driver
  3. Did you download it manually and tried installing it manually? I hope you downloaded it from Geforce official website.
    http://www.geforce.com/drivers
  4. I did exactly that, I downloaded it from their site.
  5. Hm. Confusing then. Sorry if I sound stupid, but please check which is your primary VGA adapter. Since the CPU has integrated GPU, I doubt if it's enabled as the primary adapter.

Asus N56JR-MH71 is your model?. You have to download driver from manufacturers website.

Lot of time manufacturers use customized drivers. They may not be the latest, but only ones that work.

So I can't update my drivers unless they do?
  8. That is correct.
  9. I wouldn't suggest using drivers from Asus for the GPU, since they don't update drivers frequently. I don't see what's the problem with using drivers from Nvidia. It's something else that's causing the trouble if I'm to state my opinion. Anyway, it's your call.
  10. Found from other forum that this should be the newest driver from Asus that should work with your laptop GPU.
    Official Asus 332.35 driver:
    http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/UX32LA/VGA_nVidia_Win81_64_VER918133235.zip

On product page is listed older version of the driver.

This seems to bean eve later than the one on the site. Why isn't it on the site? Thanks a ton.
  12. I don't know about all these...IMO, downloading the drivers from Nvidia seems to be the best choice....Why,it even has the latest 334.89 WHQL drivers. Anyway, if you think it will cause you troubles, you can do whatever you think is the best.
If drivers from Nvidia are faulty, then I wonder why they release those drivers, precisely for Mobile GPUs....This is embarrassing...!

I agree 100%. I don't know why some laptops need specialized GPU drivers... Kinda sad. Then whats the point of these updates on the nvidia website?
  14. Also, what do you mean 334.89? The mobile says only 332.21 is out... and I don't know how mvince got 332.35 this is weird...

This is not uncommon thing that laptop manufacturer drivers are required for mobile GPU, specially for switchable (hybrid) graphics solution. And yes you are on laptop manufacturer mercy for updated driver. Sony used to be the worst when comes to driver updates.
