I suspect motherboard is broke so need a new one .

Hey last week I it believe my mobo broke, my monitor stopped receiving the signal . It works for tv ect just not my PC.
I tried displaying the image through the gpu and then The mobo nothing worked, so after reading around it looks like the mother board is broke so I need a new one.

The CPU I have is the amd Phenom 2 which I've unlocked the 2 extra cores.
I have 8gb of Kingston 1333mhz ram .
So what I need help with as I've never had to buy a board before is what one can I get which is better for £50? The motherboard cost me this amount like 5 years ago so I'm assuming I can get a better one right?

When you say it works for your TV, how are you connecting it that is different from what you tried with the monitor?

Do you need a mATX like the one you have now, or can your case fit an ATX?

It's a 22inch tv with a VGA port and hdmi normally it works same goes with my 47inch tv which I use to watch films from my PC on but now it doesn't work on either.
I personally would prefer ATX as I can fit a larger fan on it , my local store only has ATX ones. My case can fit one in

They are AM3+ sockets. No sense trying to find one of the few remaining older AM3 socket boards anymore.

Agreed. But I assumed he was asking for a MB to replace the one his AMD processor is in.

They're all equally good in their own right. I've always liked Gigabyte. But that is just personal preference. The Gigabyte's specs and features can be found here:

If you are trying to maintain your original £50 budget, I'd get it.

If you want to go back to a mATX, the Asus is a nice board, but uses an older chip set:

The chip set won't matter with the processor you have now. But the newer 9-Series chip set would be a little better for the FX-xxxx processors if you ever decide to upgrade. The only one in the list that doesn't have a 9-series chip set is the mATX Asus.

You didn't state which Phenom II processor you had. So check the CPU support list for the board you choose to be sure it is supported. It almost assuredly will be.

Well, let's put it this way... You have a better chance of getting a good MB, than one that is DOA. Not very comforting, I'll admit. But the failure rate of MBs by the time they get to the end user seems to be growing. I build a lot of systems and occasionally end up with a DOA board.

I'm using a iphone to message and can't find a way to quote sorry . I see well hopefully it comes working , the seller does have a guarantee on it. With the board I've chosen if I decide to upgrade to the better cup'a will I be able to? Also will accept good GPU. I now have a urge to just upgrade the lot as my gpu is definitely not the greatest for gaming which I will be using it for.

If you're buying the board used from a reputable seller, you probably have abetter chance of it being in good shape. At least it was working just before it was shipped. Providing it survives the shipping process, you should be fine.

If so, you should be in good shape for an upgrade in the future. It supports just about every Socket AM3 and AM3+ processor made. And the board will work with any PCIe X16 graphics card you want to buy. However, don't bother with dual cards. The 2nd PCIe X16 slot is only X4 bandwidth. Not good for getting the most out of the 2nd card.
