I personally have an EVGA 1000 P2 platinum power supply. I'm wondering why aren't there more platinum power supplies? It seems that 99% or people always recommend gold power supplies.

Not everyone wants to spend the extra money obviously. And let's do a little math here. The platinum PSU that you are using has a real world efficiency of around 91%. The Gold version of the same exact PSU has a real world efficiency of around 89%. Thats a difference of around 18 watts used when under full load, and like 4 watts under typical use. If you ever forgot to turn off the bathroom light overnight, you already wasted more power than the difference between these two units.

That and, the Platinum version of that PSU is on like 3 month backorder just about everywhere. EVGA doesn't even have them.

Right, I guess EVGA is lying then when they say 3 months, and Amazon is lying too. :sarcastic:

I can't believe you are seriously going to argue about this. Dude, you made a mistake, it's okay it happens. You saw them listed and didn't see the back order notice. Really, it isn't the end of the world. Instead of just chalking it up to a minor mistake on your part you're really going to say you know better than they're own website? What is it, your gut that tells you this, premonition, clairvoyance, what? Seriously every single reseller of that product, along with the Manufacturer itself, have none in stock. But no, SR-71 is sure they are really hiding somewhere and you'll get yours in a week.

Just FYI I could care less about this topic, but I have seen things on amazon say weeks/months shipping, then come back in stock the next day and say normal shipping. Amazon is sporadic like that. You may or not believe it. Blackbird could be right or wrong I could care less, I'm just telling you - I have seen it with my own eyes so you probably shouldn't be ripping him - there is an off chance he's right.

Yep, that's the nature of the online sales game. One day your on a significant back order, the next your not. I've seen this frequently also.
