I just ordered the motherboard but I do not see this cpu on their "officially compatible" list. Has anyone tried this combination and knows for sure that it works with the latest bios? Newegg won't take it back unless it's bad once the box is open so I would appreciate it if I can find out for sure this cpu will work with no issues. I know it's something like a two year old motherboard now days but just going over the stats I can't see a reason it wouldn't work unless this board can't provide the 220W it wants.

I hope somebody knows for sure, thanks!

I ordered that processor too for the msi 990fxa gd80v2 mobo too,,I heard guys on other forums saying they have done it so I updated my bios to 13.5 installed the fx-9370 powered up and 10 seconds later after every code in the book flashed it shut down.. I tried reseting cmos and still nothing.. So I put my FX-8150 back in and needles to say the FX-9370 is not compatable with this mobo.. I should have listened to newegg's recommended mobo's Ive recently ordered the asrock 990fx extreme 9 edition which is compatable. oh well at least the new bios rocks,, can actually use my 2133mhz memory now,and got my fx-8150 to 4.3ghz stable!

Don't get how to read that url, oh well I didn't know anyone answered and returned it to newegg, probably like the UD5 gigabyte better anyway has more sata ports and is officially able to support this monster. Has anyone compiled a list of air coolers that will keep this beast cool? I bought a fourty dollar one but I'm half suspecting it isn't going to cut it. I'm kind of afraid of liquid cooling and I'm not really sure the case I have can handle it properly either. Several folks have recommended the corsair 110 or the 100 as well which is a little cheaper.

I am using the thermaltake water 2.0 performer dual 120mm fans Its pretty compact and fits nicely in the back of m rosewill thor v2 . with my FX-8150@4.3 idle temps are 38 c ,, under load 55 c Like anything else in the case you need to pull radiator and spray with air. ALOT of dust gets clogged in the fins and your temps will jump to 70+c Once every 3 months is good..

Well then I guess I'm glad I sent it back, couldn't afford a 160.00 mistake. Everyone said I'm dumb to spend so much on that cpu..well I hate rebuilding my box and I won't have that kind of cash laying around again for quite awhile so the reasoning is get the most you can get now because in 3 years when you've got that sort of cash again it'll still be able to handle what you need but there will be bigger better stronger out again that you'll want to update to. My poor old box reduced to a skeleton, if motherboards had feelings he's probably pouting have to revive him with some old parts I guess.

I have purchased the same GD80V2 MSI AMD motherboard and I have got the bios corrupted while updating from windows 8. Also there was an indication of bad bios as it often hanged during BIOS GUI Entry. Now I am unable to boot coz I don't have any backup of previous BIOS, so will you please please upload the backup file of your mobo or google mail to me at : rishabhchd19? Backup file is something E7640AMS.D10 or .D20 ... right? I need a clean default backup of the BIOS and not an .exe bios file. Urgently Required MSI 990FXA-GD80V2 Bios Backup file that can be copied on USB key to boot from error F2.
Also confirmed if you are able to boot Windows 8 or some other OS from USB 3.0? Does USB 3.0 bootable? It do not allow to boot any media device from BIOS but it detects in BIOS for backup bios files and screenshots. There's a problem in booting with 3.0 ...so please confirm this. Else I will replace this board under 10 days replacement warranty.
Please upload the backup file and other necessary files that required to be copy down on the USB key. I shall be thankful to you.
