hey, i have a 3770k with a noctua NH-D14 cooler. the cpu is NOT overclocked, all factory settings.
when i run prime95 my temps max in the high 60s (65-69) degrees celcius. compared to what i have seen online i think this temperature is way too high. does anyone have any idea as to why i am getting such high temperatures?

Those cpus tend to run hotter because of the thermal paste between the cpu die and the heat spreader.

So as long as you did not mess up the thermal paste, I think you may be stuck with that(will not damage the cpu).

How low are you seeing? I know getting into the 60's with a 2600K(heat spreader on this cpu is soldered into the die, so it runs cooler) @ 4.4 was not uncommon on the same cooler(these are core temps not socket or motherboard temps).

It is also hit and miss(so 1 3770 may run cool while another may not).

Also ensure you have good airflow in the case.

Not a bad idea. It does not take that much thermal paste to get a good fit. IMO the mounting system for that cooler is also quite easy to use. Just tighten each side down a bit(to keep the pressure even as you get it seated) until you get it all the way down.

I see such a wide range of temperatures for those cpus.
