Hi everyone, my first post, hope i can explain you my difficulties. I'll be brief.
The Idea:
- To cascade 2 Routers in order to have wireless Internet signal in all the house while maintaning the same Network Name, Password and IP granting.
The Equipment:
- 1 Modem/Router linked to the Internet
- 1 Router (SMC SMCWBR14S-N4)
- Powerline Adapters to link the Routers together
The Space:
- The Main Router (and Modem at the same time) is in the living room with a Powerline connected to a LAN port (it doesn't have a WAN port logically)
- The Slave Router is in a bedroom with a Powerline connected to a LAN Port.
The Configuration:
- Main Router:
- IP 192.168.0.1
- Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
- DHCP Server ranging IPs between 192.168.0.10 and 192.168.0.254 (The main Router's configuration doesn't allow me to start below X.X.X.10
- Wireless Channel 11
- Slave Router
- Bridge Mode Enabled (has Router and Bridge Mode, tell me which is best please)
- IP 192.168.0.2
- Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
- DHCP Disabled
- Primary and Secondary DNS 192.168.0.1
- Wireless Channel 6
- Same SSID Name, both Routers have the same WPA2-PSK [AES] Security Mode and Password
The Issue:
- Wireless devices can't get access to the Network while inside the Slave Router's Signal. If you take your Android Smartphone to the living room (the Main Router's room) and wait with it's Wi-Fi on after writting the password, you'll get connected and can surf the Web, but in the bedroom you can't
That's the only problem: WIRELESS DEVICES CAN'T CONNECT TO THE NETWORK WHILE UNDER THE SECOND ROUTER'S SIGNAL.
P.S.: One thing that "worked" was turning on DHCP on the Second Router, granting it a higher IP Range than the Main Router's, i.e:
- Main Router's range: X.X.X.10 - X.X.X.99
- Second Router's range: X.X.X.100 - X.X.X.199
The wireless devices could connect in that way granted with an IP within the Second Router's DHCP range and in my bedroom PC (inserted in the Main Router's IP range) i could even Ping my Smartphone, wich assured me the two ranges could communicate with each other, but they still couldn't surf the Web :O
Hope someone could help me, this is getting really annoying.
Awaiting Answer,
