I have just bought the Aerocool Touch 2100 fan controller...

Haven't had it on yet, (still not completed my build) but I am happy with it so far. I was supplied with some tape inside, presumably to attach the various thermocouples but it leaves much to be desired.

Basically it doesn't hold them down at all.

Should I attach them mechanically? How?

I have seen some tape called High Temperature Kapton Polyimide. I am not sure but I think people use this for this sort of thing? Am I making a schoolboy error here can anyone lend an experienced hand please?

I would suggest near your RAM for your last thermocouple. I use all of the all of the thermocouples that my ROG motherboard supports.

On the tape, there are another half dozen adhesive tapes at FrozenCPU. Put the tape over the top of the thermocouple. That way you can just cut the tape to move it.

yeah I kinda figured that from the name but I had heard Kapton mentioned before and I could only really find that. Can you suggest what kind of tape I should use please?

I need something strong but something that won't interefere with the functionality of the thermocouple and its results.

many thanks for replying

The recommended places to use are:

CPU cooler
HDD
GPU

That leaves me a couple spare, so might keep an eye on the PSU and maybe one for the ambient interior temp

I hope it won't get too hot, certainly nothing above normal PC heat levels.

Yeah that is certainly the right vibe, I would be a bit concerned using it though...

'Semi permanent' and 'possible n00b mistakes' are not two things I fancy mixing together lol

Yeah I bough some polyimide tape in the end (allegedly Kapton, although I don't think it is) and it has actually arrived already. It's heat resistent, chemical resisitant and non-conductive. It sticks well, removes well and it was less than a few quid. Result.
