Hello everyone!
About 6 months ago I built my very first gaming/work rig. I love it like a child.
A few days ago I downloaded 7 days to die and let my fiance give it a spin. While she was playing I started to hear some coil whine coming from the card. After about 30 minutes the whine went away. I got up and took a peek inside the case, the right fan was no longer spinning.
I gave it a little spin with my finger and it started back up, but nowhere near the rate the left fan was spinning.
I powered down and took out the card to give it a little TLC. I clean it well and started toying with the fans. The fan in question was giving a little resistance while spinning.
I got everything back in and rebooted, had to give the fan a little nudge again to get it spinning. After getting into windows and loading up my sensor programs I discovered my idle temps were a tad higher than normal. I usually idle and 28-29, I was at 36. Not horrible but a large amount higher than what I was use to.
I ran to Wal-Mart and got myself some light machine oil, thinking that the bearings just needed a little lube. Get home and peel back the sticker on the bad fan.....no oil well on it.
My question is how can I breathe some life back into the fan, or better yet, how can I manage to lube up the fan?
