Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me out here. I am considering buying a couple of 2GB RAM sticks from someone online, but just wanted someone to check that they'd be OK for my desktop(which supports DDR2)?
They are "Elpida 2GB 2Rx4 PC2-5300P-555 12-J2.
Here is a link a picture of them

In addition, could I run two of these sticks along side a pair of "Kingston 2Gb DDR2 667 5300 Desktop Pc Ram D25664F50"?

Thanks

Thats 1.8v DDR2, 2GB each (I think its each). Mixing and matching ram is sometimes tricky. It can often work but if it doesn't and you are using compatible settings for both sets of sticks, not much else can be done.

Edit: missed that it was server ram as stated down below. Sorry.

Dear, Elpidea is a server RAM from HP. I would recommend not to use it with Kingston RAM. It would be better if you find RAMs eitehr all of Elpidea or all of Kingston. Thoug through manipulating timings manually rams may/can be made to work but there is no guarantee that it would work. Better not to waste money on such comibnation.

Desktop computers use unbuffered memory.
This is ECC RAM used in servers. It is not compatible.
If you do find DDR2 unbuffered memory, it may still have compatibility problems with your current RAM.

It's a fairly safe bet that any machine using DDR2 RAM is ok with 2GB of RAM (and Windows XP). Programs requiring more than this would likely also run slowly on this processor.
