Hi,

I'm using an Asus N550JV-CN240H (same as the 127H), and Windows 8 64-bit and this computer is only a month old.
I came across with this error yesterday, on device manager nvidia gpu is showing ! in a yellow triangle and in description it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
Also nvidia control center says "NVIDIA Display settings are not available. You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU."

This was fine before i mean i could play games and it was working well I checked the device manager when the day i bought it it was all fine but yesterday I installed couple of new programs (MathLab, Ansys, Solidworks, AutoCAD and Office to be exact, and yes, i am an engineering student.) and in the evening I noticed the error while playing NFS Rivals it was laggy then I tried to open Nvidia Control Center and the error was there.

I disabled the gpu then enabled it first it didn't work but second time i tried disable/enable and the triangle was gone but nvidia control center wasn't still opening. I rebooted and the error was there again.

Today I uninstalled the driver via Programs and Features and used Driver Sweeper in windows (not in safe mode, came to my mind while installing again). Then downloaded the latest driver from Asus, installed, rebooted. No luck. I tried an older driver still no luck. And the disable/enable thing doesn't work this time.

I haven't tried a clean install i hope it solves my problem because there was nothing on the screen indicating a bad hardware no vertical lines etc. like some guys did on forums. But is there anything I can try before formatting the computer entirely? Does the Refresh Computer setting (without deleting the files) in windows 8 would work?

And can i install a second OS to my D: drive to see if that works?

Honestly I rather not to use System Restore because I tried it a 2-3 weeks ago where there wasn't even a problem and it got stuck (nearly) in initializing screen for 1-2 hours then while it was restoring registry at %1 I forced it to shut down, it rolled back the changes it did, so a bad experince.

Thanks in advance, hope this gets solved.

Edit: Disable/enable thing seemed working one time, but as soon as I rebooted problem continues and e/d doesn't work again. Please help.

Solution
For anyone the above solution didn't work (such as myself), here is the ultimate solution:

Upgrading your BIOS version (208 is the latest at the time being) solves this issue.

1. Download the BIOS file from ASUS support website. (For me, the file name was N550JVAS.208)
2. Restart your computer and press F2 to enter to BIOS.
3. Select Easy Update (may be named EZ Update / Easy Flash / EZ Flash) in your BIOS.
4. Find your downloaded file within the program and press enter.
5. In about a minute, you BIOS update is done.

VERY IMPORTANT: Do not turn off your computer during the BIOS update under any circumstance. For your laptop, make sure you have enough battery charge, for desktops if you don't trust your electricity, consider using an...

Today I removed the Asus' Nvidia driver and installed a driver from Nvidia Support, it wasn't working initially but strangely couple of disabling/enabling and after a restart, it seems fine now.

Thanks "a lot" guys.

6. When Windows boots up, you will see the issue is resolved.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If your computer doesn't boot up after you upgrade your BIOS and automatically enter to BIOS, apply the following steps:

1. Disable Secure Boot from BIOS.
2. Save Changes & Exit - Your computer will not boot and open BIOS again, this is normal.
3. Enable CSM.
4. Save Changes & Exit - Your computer may restart once more automatically, this is normal. After that, Windows will boot.

Hope this works for you!
