Try booting without any of the cards and see if it boots up. I mean with the onboard display port...

Try to reset your BIOS.

He's right it might be a reason. Actually, why I asked you to boot without any GPU was just to make sure there was nothing wrong with the other components. Try to boot without any GPU,better in safe mode, and uninstall the old drivers if any. Then try with the new card installed.

Even without a card,it doesn't means something else is wrong...Can you get to the bootscreen, or it doesn't get past the POST?
If it does get to the bootscreen, try booting with safe mode. If it doesn't let's try something else like removing the RAM sticks and try running with only one. Then,I believe you haven't touched the CPU, since a CPU installed improperly can cause this as well. Next, make sure every power connector to the board is fine, take note of the the CPU power connector.

Try what I said in my last post, with those hardware stuff and make sure the cables are proper. And please update.

i checked that it was in the pci properly, the 6 pin cables were connected, cpu fan and all the cables connected to the motherboard

Did you reset the bios? It could be set on discrete graphics so when you try to boot with the on board gpu nothing is happening

Give that a try. Try looking for settings in BIOS like he said.

Did you check the CPU power connector to the motherboard? I wasn't talking about the CPU fan connector. there would be a 4 or 6 or 8 pin CPU power connector header.

im quite sure that the cable is connected, do you think the motherboard may be faulty?

The board worked fine up till now. So why doubt it's faulty? And,did you try running with just one RAM stick?

Well then I assume it's something with the other RAM. Just get one of your friends' to try it, before getting a new one. That,if it boots up....

yeah.. i was thinking of buying new ram anyway (i nearly bought it with this card!) so f that works i would probably just use the one stick untill the new ram arrives

I said in the third post, reset your bios which has been repeated by one other person, have you tried this?

i reset the bios then installed my new gpu and the system didnt boot and the monitor still said no signal, i then tried this with one stick of ram, same result. i tried with the other stick of ram and got the same result again, i tried it with no ram and guess what, same result. so i guess its not a problem with my ram

Well, you're supposed to be hearing some beep sound without RAM. Did you hear that? If you didn't then I guess something's wrong with your motherboard.

In between let me ask you something else. When you turn on the computer with RAM sticks installed you get no signal on Monitor. But does the system boot up? I mean, do you hear logon sounds or something like that? You can't see that, for sure. But can you feel like the system is booting up but nothing gets displayed on the monitor?

Actually, now I'm more inclined towards the idea that your motherboard maybe faulty. Try this. If you get no beeps even after RAM is removed, then remove your Hard disk and ROM drive, whatever you have in your system connected to motherboard. Which means Motherboard now should only have the CPU installed. Now turn on. If there's no sound even in this situation, then I guess your Motherboard is dead.

I have knocked out my case cables before while changing a video card.. make sure all your cables are plugged in.

Please do read the full thread before posting. That was already suggested and he said everything was fine.

To the OP:
Please remember to try what I said in last post to check if you have a faulty mobo.

there was no beep with the ram uninstalled (all of it) so i guess it probably is the motherboard, i didnt disconnect the disk drive etc when i tried this but do i really need to because it probably wont make much difference

No it won't make that much of a difference. Though, I wonder if your motherboard is ACTUALLY dead, coz some boards may not necessarily produce the beep sound. Has your mobo ever produced a beep?

yeah it does, it always beeps once on startup (well it used to when it worked)

Now it doesn't? Even when no RAM is on it? Then I think it's dead bro...Better get it replaced....
