advice needed for ram upgrade

right i have a
sony viao
intel(r) core(tm)
i5-323- cpu @
2.60GHz
4.00 gb ram (3.88gb usable)
64-bit operating system x64 based processer

now i am a total noob but does anyone on here know what would be best for upgrading my ram
any help would be good

8GB RAM is more than enough for most people.

If this is a laptop and the existing 4GB is a single SODIMM, then you can just insert another matching 4GB SODIMM, if it has a spare slot.

If not, then you will have to swap it out for a 8GB unit, unless of course it has the 4GB soldered on to the motherboard, then just add 4GB.

A desktop, it could have 2x2GB and no free slots or two free, or then again, it could be a single 4GB DIMM and one free slot.
